Choosing a Poker Table
A poker player's ability to win is all relative to the other players at the table, so a smart player will find tables with mostly weak players at it, and then identify the poor players quickly to take advantage of the situation.
How To Identify the Right Tables
The first step is to identify tables that have a high percentage of flops seen. Look for a percentage around 50% or higher for limit games. The first sign of a fish is that they see almost every flop regardless of their starting hands.
The next step is to look at the average pot size of the tables. Look for a table where the average pot size is at least 5 times the big blind. This indicates that there are weak players giving action on almost every hand. If you have a monster hand you want weak players that are going to call and make the pot big.
Finally once you have identified a potential good table to play at watch the players to find the worst ones and then if possible take a seat immediately to their left. This will give you position on them. A poker table is constantly evolving with players coming and leaving. If the fish bust out and good players join the table you should leave and search for another table to play it.
Remember, you do not have to be the best poker player in the world to consistently win, you just have to be better than the other players you are at the table with.
